Neighbors press city over alleged code violations at 1119 C Street; council asks for staff follow-up

Multiple neighbors at the April 1 Coeur d'Alene City Council meeting urged elected officials to investigate alleged building-code violations at 1119 C Street, saying the structure as built exceeds step-back and setback limits and that the planning and building departments did not require corrective action.

Speaker Nick Bell presented diagrams and planning-department materials showing what he said were discrepancies between the approved site plan and the building as constructed, including a north-side alley setback that he said measures 6 feet from the property line where the stamped plans showed 8 feet; on the west side he said the wall and roof pitch extend into the step-back area and that the structure was built to 17 feet 9 inches where the code allowed 15 feet.
