Roseville recreation staff: summer day camp sells out; splash pad bids open Thursday

Sarah Frederick, assistant director of Roseville Recreation, told the City Council on March 11 that summer day camp registration sold out in 30 minutes and the program expects 70 campers this summer.
Frederick outlined several upcoming spring and summer events at city facilities: a cardboard-box movie night moved to March 28; a spring craft and vendor show on April 5 at the recreation center (vendor spots nearly sold out and a new youth vendor area for ages 10-17); an adults-only "ache" egg hunt at Julie Park; the annual spring egg hunt for ages 2 to 10 at Huron Park with four age groups and an adaptive area for participants with special needs; a doggy egg hunt at the MI Dog Park on April 12 at 12:30 p.m.; and Earth Day celebrations at Spindler Park in Eastpointe and Veterans Memorial Park in Roseville in partnership with the Eastpointe and Roseville libraries. Frederick said the spring/summer program guide was sent to print and that registration for programs running May through August opens April 7.
City Manager Mr. Monroe told the council that bids for the Rotary Park splash pad project will open Thursday and the city expects construction to begin once weather allows; staff are targeting late summer — possibly by Labor Day — for opening but said the date depends on contractor scheduling and weather. The manager said he will notify council when the winning bid is selected.
Council members thanked Frederick for the update and noted strong community interest in recreation offerings.
