The Roseville City Council on April 8 approved an award to Stony Creek Services Inc. for recoating, cleaning and repair of the city's salt dome, citing an industry‑specific coating and the vendor's prior work on the dome.
Public works staff told the council Stony Creek provides an industry‑specific coating that matches the existing system and that the work is overdue. "They're the company that... they have an industry specific coating that's going over the coating that they had put on before. It's the same type code. So, that's why you didn't see it as an open bid process," the staff presenter said.
Council approved the single‑source award by motion and voice vote. Staff said there was no current structural damage to the dome and that the recoating should prolong the facility's life.
