The Roseville City Council on April 8 voted to receive and place on file the city manager's proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget, with a public hearing and presentation scheduled at the next council meeting.
City Manager Mr. Monroe told the council the action requested that evening was only to receive and file the budget and that a public hearing and a presentation by Mr. Walters would follow. "Yes, mayor and council. We just need you to receive and file the budget. We'll have a public hearing and a presentation by Mr. Walters at our next Council meeting and a motion for you to adopt a budget at that time," Monroe said.
The motion to receive and file the budget was moved and supported during the meeting and carried after a voice vote. The council did not adopt the budget at the April 8 meeting; the formal adoption was deferred to the later meeting identified by staff for a public hearing and adoption vote.
The action at this meeting fulfills the city charter requirement to place the proposed budget on the record and sets the schedule for the next step of the budget process: a public hearing and an adoption motion at a subsequent council meeting.
