Clay County court rejects final plat for Corner Post RV Park after residents raise safety, water concerns

Clay County Commissioners Court voted 5-0 to deny approval of the final plat for Lot 1 of Corner Post RV Park after multiple residents raised safety and water-supply concerns and the court identified missing or unclear engineering items.

The court, meeting at the Clay County Courthouse, heard public comment from nearby residents and technical responses from the developer’s surveyor and the property owner before voting. Heather Martin, a resident who said she lives at 736 Reed Road, told the court, “I have so many concerns about the RV park,” and cited the site’s location on a curve, past flooding on the property and uncertainty about whether the proposed sewage system could handle full capacity. Carolyn Cantwell, who said the park would be “right in front of my property,” said she runs a 75-head cattle herd on her land and expressed concerns about water availability and fire risk.
