Board approves rezoning, emergency rescue station permit, pet-care special exception and budget adjustments; votes at a glance

The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted on a string of land-use and budget items, approving a rezoning for a residence on Maragon Road, special-exception permits for an EMS rescue station and a pet daycare, and several budget housekeeping measures, including a change order for the animal shelter project.

The board voted to rezone property at 24368 Maragon Road from B-2 (Business General) to A-2 (Agricultural General), allowing the owners to expand a preexisting nonconforming single-family dwelling. Planning staff presented photos and a recommendation; the planning commission had recommended rezoning by a 5–1 vote. The motion passed 6–0 with one abstention recorded because a board member declared a relationship to the applicants and recused themselves.

The board granted a special-exception permit for an emergency medical rescue squad facility to serve the Glade area, located in the Late Highlands Industrial Park. Planning staff showed conceptual elevations and floor plans and noted the parcel sits alongside other industrial and agricultural parcels; the planning commission recommended approval 6–0.
