Road and Bridge approves Spectrum fiber permits, private road numbers and mining contract; crews respond to weekend flooding

Utility permits and broadband build: The court approved multiple right‑of‑way utility applications from Spectrum (Charter Communications) for broadband fiber installation across numerous county roads. County staff said the applications met Road & Bridge standards and described a planned meeting between fiber contractors and the county’s rural water committee to reduce accidental strikes on rural water lines. The listed roads include (selected): Sue Bell Lake Road; Buchanan Road; Buckville Road West; Woodlawn Estates Road; Macedonia Road; Red Fox Road; White Fox Road; Baker Bridge; Chaparral Ranch; Holmes Road; Standpipe Road; Hatley Road; Lee Island Road; Old Lee Island Road; and others.
Private roads and 9‑1‑1 renumbering: The court issued Private Road Number 88 for Private Road 3333 (south off FM 968) in Precinct 3 and Private Road Number 89 for Private Road 1316 (off Taylor Road/County Road 1324) in Precinct 1. Commissioners and staff discussed an ongoing county effort to resolve duplicate road names and numbering in the 9‑1‑1 database; county staff said the renumbering will improve emergency response dispatch accuracy.
Mining contract renewal: Commissioners approved entering into an agreement with Brett Meisenheimer for purchase and mining of clay at $1 per cubic yard and iron or gravel at $5 per cubic yard from property in Precinct 3 to be used on county road repairs; commissioners said the vote extended an existing contract that had expired in March.
Approvals were moved and seconded on the floor and passed by unanimous votes. County staff said all the utility applications had been reviewed and met the department’s standards.
