Fiscal court backs sewer expansion along I‑71 Exit 28 corridor and authorizes officials to seek funding

The Henry County Fiscal Court on Feb. 13 approved a resolution expressing the county’s full support for a sanitary sewer expansion along the LaGrange–Milton corridor (I‑71 Exit 28) and authorized county officials, including the county judge executive, to seek state and federal funding for the project.

The resolution, read into the record at the meeting, said the corridor anticipates rapid commercial and residential development and that many properties lack sanitary sewer service or rely on failing on‑site systems, which hinders economic growth. The resolution recounted a 2013 submission by the county and the LaGrange Utilities Commission to the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for a proposed extension and cited an estimated project cost of $9,664,660.

Court members noted Henry County has applied for a loan from the Kentucky Clean Water State Revolving Fund but had not yet received funding. The court approved the resolution and the judge executive said he would present the signed resolution to state and federal representatives as part of outreach for grant and loan support.

The resolution directs county officials to pursue necessary funding at local, state and federal levels and to provide personnel and facilities as available to support project assessment and completion.
