Ken Mueller, Sheridan County engineer, told the board bids for the project opened March 28 and that the county advertised the work for three weeks "as a federal requirement." He said the county received one bid — from Oxford Inc. — and recommended awarding the contract to the firm that has done similar work for the county in the past. "They've done an outstanding job for us in the past," Mueller said.
Mueller said the project covers about 65 miles. He also described the grant funding: a federal grant of $225,697, with a remaining balance the county must cover of $202,143. "So it's an 80%, 20% match on the grant, but with the limited funding that the state gives out, we always have to overmatch," Mueller said.
The board moved and seconded the award and approved it on a voice vote.
