Planning Director Stephanie Johnson gave a monthly update to the Board of Supervisors on April 8, outlining pending conditional‑use permits, rezoning requests, permit counts and code amendments under review.
Johnson said pending applications include CUP 24‑01 for Green Recycling (scheduled for a Planning Commission public hearing on April 21), a pending item labeled CP 24‑02 related to an EMS radio tower, a rezoning request (24‑02) for an industrial park on Commerce Road proposing a change from M‑1 to M‑2, and a rezoning application from Valco Investments at the corner of Blenheim and Route 60 proposing R‑2 to B‑1. She also noted a conditional‑use permit application for “Kenny’s Place,” the property formerly known locally as the Big O Club. The planning staff reported that some applications were incomplete and remain under review before scheduling for the planning commission.
For March, planning staff issued one commercial primary zoning permit, 15 residential primary permits, 12 residential accessory permits and six farm‑structure permits. Staff approved seven subdivisions and said 55 subdivisions are pending. The department approved three surveys/site plans in March and has 34 pending. Johnson said commercial enforcement matters remain active, including Cobb’s Creek (Cobbs Creek) which staff hopes to close by the end of the calendar year, and two solar sites on South 45 and Down Cumberland Road remain under review.
Johnson also described a proposed “Timber Creek Building” subdivision near Fleming Road: a 4.5‑acre parcel to be subdivided into nine lots with public water and sewer and two private access roads. She told the board staff will work on potential code amendments and continues to gather site photos and documentation for projects such as the concrete reservoir.
No formal land‑use votes occurred at this meeting; several planning applications were noted as pending and scheduled for upcoming planning‑commission review.
