County adopts new recycling pickup plan as Waste Connections contractor begins service; transfer station approved

Logan County officials and representatives from Waste Connections/Scott Waste Operations updated the fiscal court on the new trash and recycling contract and service changes, and the court approved a transfer-station inspection report.
Waste contractor representatives said April’s calendar created confusion because April 1 fell on a Tuesday; beginning in May the company said customers should use the Waste Connect app for service-day schedules. Scott Waste’s representative said the company will operate a separate recycling truck in the county (so recycling will not be mixed with regular trash on the same truck) and encouraged residents to call the contractor’s customer service number (270-783-4016) if their address does not appear in the app.
County solid-waste staff reported recycling volumes for March (24 bales of cardboard plus paper and metal) and noted a facility inspection of Apex TBM, a transfer site at South Union. Nathan (solid-waste staff) said the transfer site had some wind-blown litter but that owner/operator Hanks and Scott Waste planned cleanup cooperation. The court approved Apex TBM’s site based on the inspector’s recommendation.
The court also reminded residents of a county waste-tire collection event (April 25, 8 a.m.–11 a.m., Logan County Road Barn at 1088 Patent Street) and urged compliance with the 15-tire-per-vehicle limit.
County staff and the contractor said they would follow up on addresses not appearing in the app, pick up missed trash once roads become passable after flooding and photograph accounts of service failures to maintain service records.
