County staff introduced the item as a request to “consider, possibly approve, and receive a donation of a mural to be displayed at Doggett Park, pursuant to section 81.032 of the Texas Local Government Code.” Local artist and donor Michelle Raisin told the court the piece is dated 1985 and “It is 10 foot by 6 foot.” She described the work as “a hand painted canvas framed collage mural” and said she had explored multiple public locations before recommending Doggett Park.
The court approved the donation after a motion and second. The motion to accept the gift was moved and seconded by Commissioners Alford and Erickson; the court voted in favor without recorded opposition.
During discussion Raisin said the mural includes scenes of local buildings and events such as the state fair and the ballet. She offered to coordinate transport; the court accepted that assistance and thanked her.
The court did not specify an installation date; county staff will manage transport and placement under the county’s usual processes for accepted gifts.
