Staff explained the mapping component integrates caller location with the phone system so 9‑1‑1 calls can be accurately located when callers cannot identify their position.
The court noted the bid period remains valid through August and that if the grant is not awarded the county will consider funding the project through next year’s budget; staff said the consoles and other communications upgrades already drawn from current fiscal appropriations would be coordinated with this purchase if the grant is secured. The motion approved in the meeting authorized the county to proceed with the grant request and, contingent on award, to execute necessary contract actions to buy the system with a county match not to exceed 20 percent.
