County surveyor presents Old Stanford Road easement survey as county prepares to accept road into system

County surveyor Rich Murphy told the Boyle County Fiscal Court on March 11 that a survey to reestablish the boundary of Old Stanford Road found an existing 50-foot easement extending to the city sludge-farm property. Murphy said the survey located most original pins and produced a new legal description intended to allow the county to dedicate the easement into the county road system.
Murphy noted a farm fence intruding roughly 15 feet into the easement on the south side and recommended the court consider a turnaround at the dead-end portion near the sludge-farm property to ensure emergency access. He asked that the county prepare a deed for the city to convey the segment of city property underlying the road. County attorney and staff said they would prepare appropriate documents and a deed once the description was provided.
The court also discussed another longtime access question raised by a property owner about Taylor Road and directed the county engineer to inspect the segment and report back. The court and staff discussed execution of a contract with the surveyor for further services once deed and KYTC (Kentucky Transportation Cabinet) documentation is ready. Murphy and staff also explained that the surveyed portion was not previously in the public road system because it had been a private easement and that the county had prepared milepoint information to facilitate adding the segment to KYTC’s local-road records.
Magistrates and staff asked public-works and legal staff to coordinate on necessary deeds, possible turnarounds at the road end, and whether any additional county votes are needed once planning & zoning and the city finish their parts.
