County legal staff advised the court that law-enforcement donations are permissible but recommended confirming in writing that the donor has no pending matters with the sheriff's office. The county attorney's office said the sheriff's office had indicated the donation would be used for range training and patrol practice. The donor will provide written certification that no investigation or pending matter exists, the county attorney said.
Commissioners approved a motion to accept the donation and specified that, after receipt, the sheriff's office must return to the court to formally recognize the revenue and complete accounting entries. The court recorded that donated funds earmarked for ammunition would be treated as restricted receipts and that revenue recognition must be completed in a subsequent open-court item.
