Pike County approves annual vendor awards for supplies, equipment and services

Pike County Fiscal Court voted to award a set of annual vendor contracts covering building materials, cleaning supplies, pipe, vehicle parts and other routine purchases for the coming contract year.

County staff presented bid packages 04-2025 through 16-2025 and recommended awards to multiple vendors across each category. Bids and recommended awards included categories with zero, one or multiple bidders; for several categories the county recommended awarding to all bidders that met specifications.

Commissioner Lewis moved to accept staff recommendations for bids 04-2025 through 16-2025; Commissioner Atkins seconded. During the roll call Commissioners Scott, Atkins and Lewis voted yes. The presiding officer recorded an abstention for Judge Jones during that roll call.

Highlights from the bid summary presented to the court: bid 04-2025 (building materials) had zero bids but the county retains cooperative contracts; bid 05-2025 (cleaning supplies) received two bids and the county recommended awarding to both vendors; bid 06-2025 (corrugated metal and HDPE drain pipe) received four bids and the county recommended awarding to all four vendors; other categories with awards included glass products, limestone (delivered and picked up), plumbing and electrical supplies, portable toilets, printing, tires and vehicle parts. For sodium chloride (road salt) Morton Salt was recommended as the awardee (pickup price $125/ton; delivered $125.48/ton) over a higher Compass Mineral bid; Cargill returned a bid but said it could not supply salt for the 02/24/25 season. For bulk oil, two bids were received from Jones Petroleum and Candace Petroleum (formerly Apollo Oil).

County staff said awarded contracts will take effect April 1. No amendments to the staff recommendations were recorded.
