Maverick County Commissioners on April 9 approved a resolution to submit a fiscal-year 2024 Operation Stone Garden (Stone Garden) grant application on behalf of the sheriff's office.
Sheriff's Office representatives told the court the annual Stone Garden funding would again cover deputy overtime and would also be used to procure a vehicle, a license-plate reader (LP) camera system and other emergency equipment for the department. Commissioner Rios moved for approval and the court approved the submission by unanimous vote.
Staff noted the award usually funds overtime and equipment; the sheriff's office confirmed the request was an update to previously filed materials for the 2024 grant cycle. The court took no additional action on spending pending award and procurement procedures.
