Commission OKs freshwater pump station permit in Pleasant Valley Township

The Williams County Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit April 15 for a freshwater pump station and associated 6.9-acre pond in Pleasant Valley Township.
The application (LUDash0009Dash25) by Greg Nelson with Select Water, on behalf of Eugene and Penny Moll, requests a pump house roughly 45 by 35 feet and a pond of about 6.9 acres. Michelle, county planning staff, told commissioners the building will be unmanned except for maintenance visits and the pond will serve as the terminus for an 18-inch polyethylene pipeline that Select Water has constructed from an intake near Lund’s Landing.
Greg Nelson, participating by phone, confirmed the pipeline and easements are in place and that the pump house provides flexibility to move water between storage ponds. Access is from 90 Ninth Avenue Northwest. Pleasant Valley Township recommended approval. Commissioner Barry moved to approve with staff comments; the motion received a second and passed on roll call.

The permit authorizes construction of the pump house and pond as described; county staff will put conditions and monitoring expectations in the formal permit paperwork.
