County parks schedule summer concerts; Game and Fish restricts events at McGregor

Parks staff reported on a community health and wellness fair on March 22 that drew roughly 450 visitors, and they announced three scheduled concerts for the summer season while noting restrictions at one state-managed park.
Carter Harris and other staff said they staffed a wellness fair on March 22 where about 450 people attended; staff used the event to promote the reopening of Cote D'Oray and other park updates.
Jeremy Ludlow told the board that state Game and Fish owns McGregor as a wildlife management area and that large public events there require state approval. He said local staff had been able to hold concerts there previously with a lenient local official, but that Game and Fish asked last year that concerts at McGregor stop. As a result, the three confirmed concerts this year are scheduled at other parks: Friday, July 25 at Little Egypt (Boulder Dash); Saturday, Aug. 16 at Epping Springbrook (Project Constellation); and Saturday, Aug. 30 at Cote D'Oreille Dam (Moon Cats). Ludlow also said the county's new trailer stage is scheduled for delivery no later than June 20.
Why it matters: The concert schedule provides family events and supports local bands and vendors. The Game and Fish restriction at McGregor limits use of that particular state-managed area for large public gatherings; staff said they will follow state rules.
