The Brighton Area Schools board approved two separate contracting actions on Tuesday to address facility needs this summer.
Brothers and Bricks LLC: trustees approved a low bid to remove, waterproof and reconstruct an exterior wall at the lower level of Molfi/Beck (to match existing brick and stop recurring moisture intrusion). The district received two bids and accepted Brothers and Bricks LLC for an amount not to exceed $114,721. The work is scheduled for summer to minimize disruption.
Beck first-floor restrooms: the board also approved a change order with Corrigan to renovate four first-floor restrooms in the Beck building. The facilities committee recommended Option A, which refreshes the four restrooms and converts an existing storage closet into one additional ADA restroom. Because Corrigan’s quote did not include a contingency line, the administration added a 10% contingency to the project total in the board resolution. The amount approved for the work, including the contingency, was $335,007.07.
Both votes passed unanimously. Facilities staff said the timing is intended to allow construction while school is out and to address chronic maintenance and accessibility issues.
Ending: District leaders said the projects fix recurring problems (moisture damage and outdated restrooms) and that contractors will coordinate summer schedules to limit interruption to students and staff.
