Bossier board approves JMAC phase 2: demolition of 11 buildings, gym roof repairs using remaining 2012 bond funds

The Bossier Parish School Board's building and grounds committee voted to proceed with phase 2 improvements to the JMAC academic complex, including demolition of 11 original residential buildings and roof repairs to the campus gymnasium.

John Cottom, presenting the request, said the work would follow completion of phase 1 (the evaluation center) and described preliminary construction cost estimates and funding sources. Committee members moved to use the remaining 2012 bond construction funds to pay for the work. The motion passed without a recorded roll-call tally; the committee did not provide a numerical vote count on the record.

The vote followed a short clarification about the funding source. Cottom told the committee, "We just made you clarify because we said committee construction fund, which these are two different accounts." Committee members confirmed the board would use the remaining 2012 bond construction funds rather than a separate committed construction account.
