The Walworth County Human Resources Committee was told March 19 that the sheriff’s office extended an overfill period for a network engineer/CAD administrator to allow more overlap and knowledge transfer before an employee’s retirement.
A memorandum from Captain Todd Newman, included in the meeting packet, reported that the replacement CAD administrator started about six weeks later than expected and the sheriff requested an extended overlap. Committee staff told the committee the total overfill will be about five months—approximately 150 days—from Jan. 13 through June 13, 2025. The committee packet noted that the July 2024 committee previously approved an initial 90‑day overfill and authorized extensions up to a 180‑day maximum under county ordinance.
No committee action was required at the March 19 meeting; staff reported back as required by the ordinance. Committee members asked clarifying questions on timing and on prior committee authorization, and the report closed without a formal vote.
