Trempealeau County Historical Society revamps website, expands local history videos

"It's about 95% completed," the society representative said, noting the work required several hours a day to transfer materials. She said the site address remains trempealeaucountyhistory.org and that the society now has fewer technical dependencies on a previous volunteer webmaster whose circumstances changed.
The representative said Mary C. Anderson and Jim Lesinski have helped with video production; Lesinski was described as particularly organized. The society posts historic photos and accepts submissions from residents, but staff request identifying information for donated images so they retain context.
Committee members asked about social-media posting; the representative said she manages the society's Facebook page mostly by herself and that the page accepts photos but not the longer videos the society posts on other platforms. She thanked county staff Danny and Kevin for occasional technical help.
The society announced a forthcoming program titled "Secrets of Waumandee" and noted it recently won an award of excellence in a media contest that included larger regional stations.
The society representative requested direction on which courthouse department handles posting third-party content to the county website; a committee member suggested the county IT department.
The society report was delivered during the committee's museum reports portion of the agenda; no formal action was taken on the report.
