Walworth County highlights 2024 volunteer contributions, proclaims April 2025 Volunteer Month

Karen Texador, Walworth County volunteer services coordinator, presented the county’s 2024 annual volunteer report and the executive committee approved a resolution proclaiming April 2025 Volunteer Month.
Texador told the committee the county recorded 27 unpaid interns in 2024 and a total of 26,195 volunteer hours. Using the 2023 national volunteer rate of $33.49 per hour (published by Independent Sector), she said the county’s volunteer hours equated to $834,572.70 of contributed value. Texador noted statewide and national volunteer-rate data for 2024 were not yet available and said the county would publish updates when the 2024 rate is announced.
Committee members praised Texador’s coordination of volunteer programs, including Meals on Wheels routes, park stewardship days and the county’s fair-related volunteer efforts. Texador said many Meals on Wheels volunteers use personal vehicles; the program runs multiple routes and the number of deliveries varies by route and season. Texador said the county was exploring additional delivery models used by other counties and tracking 455 volunteers on her roster for ongoing programs.
The committee moved and approved a resolution to proclaim April 2025 Volunteer Month and heard that an open-house recognition event was planned for April 11 from 1–3 p.m. at Health and Human Services. The motion carried on a voice vote.
No county funding adjustments were announced at the meeting.
