Yates said Gensch is on night shift, has lower scores than desired (61% reported), and is completing coursework to improve performance; Richards scored 90% on a pre‑employment test and was recommended following interview.
Yates also said the radio team reported one piece of microwave equipment was damaged and a replacement order has been placed; the tower and building are in place but the department was awaiting the replacement unit. She said the fire chief requested that the county hold off on instituting a burn ban for at least another week and that staff will monitor weather and coordinate with neighboring counties.
Yates said hiring remains active with interviews and testing scheduled and that her goal is to be fully staffed. The board approved the PCNs during the meeting; Yates thanked commissioners for the documentation and the approvals.
