Sauk County supervisors approve package of ordinances, grant applications and staffing changes

Supervisor Eberl moved the resolution to designate the Sauk County Sheriff’s dispatch as the county PSAP, seconded by Supervisor Spencer. Resolution 17-2025 passed with 30 supervisors voting in favor, none opposed and one absent and excused.
Supervisor Lombard moved participation in the fiscal year 2025 PSAP grant program, seconded by Supervisor Regal. Lombard said, “I believe this is a necessary thing, or we will get behind.” Resolution 18-2025, which required a two-thirds vote, passed with 30 in favor, none opposed and one absent and excused.
On a related administrative item, Supervisor Carver moved to approve an electronic budget book and planning software package and award the contract to Gravity IGM Technology Corporation; Supervisor Evert seconded. The board approved Ordinance 3-2025, a map amendment to rezone approximately 11.37 acres in the town of Sumter from agricultural to recreational commercial for the Otter Creek Barn LLC property. Supervisor Krieger said the rezoning allows conversion of a vacant barn into an outdoor recreation facility and an indoor recreation facility that will serve food and alcohol as part of a redevelopment of an adjacent convent or monastery property. The ordinance passed with 22 in favor, two opposed and one absent and excused.
Ordinance 4-2025 amended Chapter 25 concerning private on-site wastewater treatment systems to reflect changes such as permitting accessory structures that include bathrooms and to align the county rules with an online permitting system. Supervisor Kinsman said contractors the county consulted generally support the updates. The ordinance passed with 29 in favor, one opposed and one absent and excused.
The board also approved a resolution to create a new campus custodian/maintenance assistant position for the building services department.
