The North Ogden City Planning Commission on March 5 postponed approval of the Feb. 19, 2025, meeting minutes after several commissioners said the draft did not clearly capture the panel’s recommendation on wireless communication towers.
Commissioners said the minutes should explicitly state that the commission recommended retaining review of mature landscaping and stealth-mode treatment for towers and that the commission supported a 10-foot setback from residential properties. “If I read this not having been at the meeting or watched the meeting, I don't know that I would understand what our recommendation was,” said Commissioner (speaker id 4).
Chair Nankaro asked staff to work with the recorder’s office to revise the language. Planning staff said they would forward clarified wording to the recorder so that city council receives a clearer summary.
The motion to postpone the minutes until the following meeting was made by a planning commissioner and seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. There was no substantive public comment during the discussion.
The postponement leaves the draft minutes under revision; commissioners asked staff to ensure the corrected version lists the three specific items the commission intended to recommend on wireless telecommunications: mature landscaping, stealth treatment and a 10-foot setback. The commission also discussed whether to approve the revised minutes at the next meeting or wait until a subsequent meeting if additional edits are needed.
