Council adds Utah Special Olympics to City Events Partnership (Resolution O3-2025)

The North Ogden City Council on Jan. 20 unanimously approved Resolution O3-2025 to amend the city’s events partnership policy and add the Utah Special Olympics as a named partner.
City Manager John Call told the council that the Special Olympics would be using the city pool in a coming weekend and that staff recommended naming the organization a partner so the city could continue to provide the facility without charging the Special Olympics; Call said the organization carries full insurance and follows safety protocols.
Council Member Pulver moved the resolution; Council Member Watson seconded. The council took a roll-call vote (Sebring, Pulver, Watson, Dalpez and Barker voting yes) and unanimously adopted Resolution O3-2025.
Council members made lighthearted comments about participation in the event (the polar plunge) but emphasized that Special Olympics participants and organizers provide the required insurance and safety measures and that the city wished to facilitate the program without charging fees. Staff will update policy documents to reflect the partnership and will continue to coordinate logistics for the scheduled pool event.
