Commissioner Vickery moved to approve the permit and waive the fee; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote with unanimous approval. Under Sheriff Matt Kelly said that, historically, the county had not charged for such events, but this year the sheriff’s office will bill for staff time to provide on-site coverage.
Commissioners requested staff confirm whether fee waivers are being applied consistently for other nonprofit events; staff said they would check and report back.
