Kenny Cook, planning director, reported the planning commission reviewed a conditional‑use permit (CUP) request from quarry owners for expansion north of Fontana. The county’s original CUP — adopted with the zoning regulations — applied to an 80‑acre tract (the west half of the southwest quarter). The current request would extend the permitted area onto adjoining parcels; Cook said staff and the applicant submitted hundreds of pages and staff found inconsistencies in mapping and missing detail on the reclamation plan, stormwater and other technical topics.
Cook said staff and the applicant agreed it would be better to continue the item so the planning commission could receive a complete, consistent package and avoid multiple follow‑ups. The planning commission continued the request to the May planning commission meeting for final consideration.

Cook said the continuation is intended to let the applicant correct mapping inconsistencies, add reclamation and stormwater plans and deliver a single complete record for the planning commission’s review at the May meeting. The county will notify affected property owners as required under notice rules.
