She also criticized proposed protective enclosures at the treasurer's semi-motor vehicle office as unnecessary and costly, and urged commissioners to consider whether the courthouse renovation was worth continuing before further spending. Mata also suggested exploring alternative uses for underused space above the county jail.
Both speakers framed their comments around taxpayer impact: Weber cited increased property assessments and maintenance expectations on gravel roads, and Mata said taxpayers deserve wise spending and questioned protections that resemble "forts" in a county she described as not needing such security.
