Fairfield County Council voted unanimously to rezone a property at 178 Wildwood Road in Great Falls from RD‑1 (rural residential) to B‑2 (general business).
County planning staff told council members the site has historically been used for commercial purposes — notably an auto repair business — and that a B‑2 classification exists roughly 200 feet away. Staff said the property had been grandfathered as commercial, closed for more than 12 months, and therefore required formal rezoning to reestablish the commercial classification. The Planning Commission had approved the rezoning before it reached council.
Council approved the ordinance on third reading by a 7‑0 voice vote following brief staff comments and no public speakers.
The rezoning will be recorded and the county will update its zoning map per the land‑management ordinance process.
