Muskegon County committee approves three-year renewal with Simpleview for CVB website and sales software

The Muskegon County Community Development and Strategic Planning Committee on Feb. 13 approved a motion to renew service contracts with Simpleview LLC for up to three years at an annual cost not to exceed $67,000 and authorized the board chair to sign the agreement.
“This is a motion to continue our contract with Simpleview. They are the providers for content management, customer relationship management, and we're going to add a new mapping feature to our website,” Community Development Director Bob Lukens said during the committee meeting.
Lukens told commissioners Simpleview runs the county’s backend for the Convention and Visitors Bureau, handling sales contacts and leads that are distributed to hotels and venues. Amber Mae Peterson, the committee’s marketing and operations manager, said the three-year term is Simpleview’s standard contract for the platform portion, while add-on subscriptions are annual and may be canceled independently.
Commissioner Herlevich asked whether the Simpleview contract included the geofencing product previously discussed; Lukens and Peterson said it did not and that geofencing uses a different vendor (Placer AI). Peterson also said some annual subscriptions under the contract are for accessibility tools that help the site meet requirements for users with hearing and visual impairments. Commissioners asked whether the county retains an out clause; Lukens pointed to the packet (page 11) where the term and termination language appears.
The motion was moved by Chair Nash and supported by Commissioner McWhiggin. The committee voiced approval and the motion carried.
The renewal keeps the county’s Visit Muskegon site and the CVB’s sales reporting on the Simpleview system, adds a mapping/itinerary feature, and keeps annual optional subscriptions available separately.
Looking ahead, staff will deliver the contract language and termination details to the full board for review before final signature.
