Superintendent Dr. Brand announced March 12 that Mr. Kyra has been named permanent principal of the Wildwood School, effective immediately. Mr. Kyra previously served as interim principal and began his career at Wildwood in 2010 as an English teacher before moving into administration.
Dr. Brand said the selection followed the district's internal search process and that stakeholder feedback received during the search was carefully reviewed. "Congratulations to Mr. Kyra. So he is moving from the interim to the permanent principal," Dr. Brand said.
As a result of the appointment, the district posted a search for an assistant principal for the middle school; an interim is serving in that role until the position is filled. Committee members welcomed the appointment and said they had heard positive feedback from staff and parents. Several members suggested inviting Mr. Kyra to present to the committee on Wildwood progress and the upcoming school-improvement planning timeline.
No formal committee vote was recorded in the transcript for the principal appointment; the superintendent presented the selection and the committee extended congratulations.
