The Wilmington School Committee approved the 2025-26 school calendar by a 4-3 vote at its March 12 meeting.
During discussion, one committee member said public comment on the calendar was "passionate" and helpful. Dr. McCaldi told the committee she intended to oppose the calendar because she believes a two-week break at the end of the year is "too much for the kids to be off of school."
When the chair called the vote, committee members voting in favor were Mr. Samaha, Mr. Turner, Dr. Bryson and the chair. Members voting opposed were Dr. McCaldi, Mr. Golden and Mr. Axdale. The motion passed 4-3.
No motions to reconsider were recorded during the meeting. The calendar will be put into district materials and used to guide scheduling and communications for the 2025-26 school year.
