On March 25, 2025, the Board of Island County Commissioners approved the day’s agenda and the consent agenda and recessed the regular session until a 2 p.m. roundtable, with no public comment received.
Commissioner Janet Saint Clair, who participated virtually, made the motion to approve the agenda, saying, "I do not. I will make a motion to approve the agenda as presented." The presiding commissioner seconded the motion; both commissioners voted "Aye," and the motion carried. Saint Clair later made a separate motion to approve the consent agenda; the presiding commissioner seconded that motion and both voted "Aye." The board recorded no public comments during the meeting.
The commissioners noted attendance and scheduling matters. The presiding commissioner opened the meeting by saying Commissioner Johnson was excused and that Commissioner Saint Clair was participating virtually. Saint Clair said her husband’s surgery had been canceled and that she would be available the rest of the week and planned to attend virtually on days she could not be in person. The board discussed scheduling for the coming week and the logistics of chairing meetings virtually; nothing in the record changed the agenda or created a formal direction beyond the motions to approve the agenda and consent agenda.
The presiding commissioner announced there were no items on the regular agenda and no public hearings scheduled for the session. The board recessed the meeting until 2 p.m. for a roundtable session and adjourned the regular session at that time.
Because the meeting recorded no ordinances, resolutions, contracts, or other substantive agenda items, there were no formal policy decisions beyond the procedural approvals and the adjournment. Public comment was closed after the roll call for speakers and none were present or online when the chair asked.
