County shows mockups for signage acknowledging lodging-tax funding along Olympic Discovery Trail

Clallam County Public Works presented a signage design for projects that receive lodging-tax funding and sought LTAC feedback on placement and wording.
“We can put these at the trail segment or whatever it is we’re doing,” said Will Habel, a county public-works employee who works with the Olympic Discovery Trail. Habel showed a metal sign mockup that lists project sponsors and an attribution line reading, “Funding for this project provided by Clallam County Lodging Tax.”
Habel said signs could be produced in-house and mounted in a scale appropriate to trail segments or project sites. Committee members suggested adding a “sponsor” line and ensuring the county logo is included. Beth Pratt, executive director of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of the Port Angeles BMX pump track said trail and park users would benefit from visible attribution.
Several committee members supported the proposal as a way to show the connection between lodging-tax revenue and local trail and tourism improvements. “People recognize that it’s a benefit to the entirety of our community,” Habel said. The committee had no objection to placing signage at trail segments funded by lodging-tax awards.
Ending: The county will finalize artwork and follow the county’s sign production process for installation at lodging-tax-funded trail segments and other projects.
