DVR and partners plan summer pre-employment workshops for students across Clallam County

Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) staff told the DDAC they are preparing pre-employment transition services and workshops for summer 2025 aimed at students and transition-age youth.
Tracy House, regional transition consultant with DVR, said the county has established a babysitting workshop, a food-worker workshop, a hospitality workshop and a CPR workshop that will provide employability credentials such as a food-handler permit or babysitting certificate. House said each workshop will have 10 slots, begin at age 14, and will be scheduled in Sequim and Port Angeles; dates and exact locations were still being finalized.
“We don't have exact dates and times yet, but working with Morningside we have established … workshops,” House said. She added that locations are still being finalized but that Sequim and Port Angeles were confirmed, with the possibility of sessions in Clallam.
House reported local collaboration with Concerned Citizens and tribal partners for West End sessions and said Tanya (Concerned Citizens) is assembling employment-related workshops in Neah Bay and Forks in partnership with the tribe and local schools. When dates and marketing materials are ready, House said she will distribute them to committee members for outreach.
Staff emphasized that students who complete the workshops will leave with certificates or permits intended to improve employability. Concerned Citizens and Morningside were named partners on the item; county DVR staff said they will circulate flyers when dates and times are set.
No formal action was required; the announcement served as a planning update and an invitation to providers and schools to refer interested students.
