Commissioners approve routine business, add agenda item to protect county engineer

The County Commission voted to approve routine measures and amended the agenda to add a discussion about securing a performance bond for the county engineer during its meeting.

Adam Clark, a county staff member, introduced Resolution 109 to approve minutes from regular sessions held Feb. 11 and March 11; commissioners moved and seconded the measure and the motion carried. The commission then approved Resolution 110 to adopt the agenda as presented but later considered and approved an amendment to add a discussion about protecting the county engineer and ensuring a performance bond is in place. Commissioners also approved Resolution 111 to pay bills and Resolution 113 accepting a part-time resignation in the Department of Aging.

Commissioners moved and carried Resolution 112, a transfer resolution on behalf of the commissioner’s office and victim’s assistance that included a $32,000 line referencing the sheriff’s fuel account, after discussion (see related article on the sheriff transfer debate). The board later recessed into an executive session citing statute 1-20-1.2(g)(3) for a pending court action with attorney Mark Mitchell; they returned to open session with no action taken.

The meeting included several procedural requests (motions to amend, withdraw, and reintroduce items) and routine voting where votes were recorded as “yes” without detailed roll-call counts in the transcript. When motions were moved and seconded, commissioners verbally confirmed their votes and the chair announced motions carried.
