Snohomish introduces Jen Harlan as incoming executive director of elementary and K–12 student success

Snohomish — The board on March 26 formally introduced Jen Harlan as the district’s new executive director of elementary and K–12 student success; Harlan described a 14-year teaching career in Stanwood, prior roles as instructional coach and assistant principal in Mount Vernon, and service as a principal at Mount Baker Middle School.
Harlan told the board she has spent three years with the district and described the new role as leading elementary principals and districtwide student-success work including attendance, discipline, equity, McKinney-Vento services, counseling and social-emotional supports. She said the role focuses on instructional support, aligning initiatives with board policy and supporting principals and teachers.
Board members and staff welcomed Harlan; one board member noted she will begin attending board meetings as a member of the district leadership team beginning July 1. Harlan thanked the board for the opportunity and said she looks forward to continuing the work with principals and teachers.
