Gallagher urged commissioners to plan for a medium‑sized courtroom as the Second‑Floor renovations proceed, noting that fixed vaults and adjacent office layouts constrain how seat rows and counsel tables can be expanded.
Separately, Gallagher described an unsolicited donation that will fund a pilot summer camp for 30 youth connected to juvenile court. The program will be delivered with community partners, volunteer speakers and the cooperation of probation staff; it is scheduled for August and intended to build leadership, teamwork and positive experiences for participants. The judge emphasized that the camp will be supported by private donations and volunteer time and not by county general funds; additional donations and in‑kind support were reported to be coming from community members.
Commissioners welcomed the program and asked for continued coordination on space planning as building moves occur and the new court case management system (CourtView) contract and microfilm/record retention questions proceed to final steps.
