Regional economic development officials brief commissioners on JobsOhio, RGP and advanced air mobility plans

Jim Weiss of the Regional Growth Partnership (RGP) and Ashley Weltco, the local RGP contact, briefed Williams County commissioners on JobsOhio funding, RGP regional work and advanced air mobility initiatives that could affect county airports.
Weiss said JobsOhio funding is drawn from a portion of state liquor sales profits and private investors and that JobsOhio concentrates economic development work at the regional and local levels. He described regional programs including a small‑business grant targeted at firms with modest revenue and a committee focused on advanced air mobility (AAM), which Weiss said could bring new operations to county airports as electric and autonomous aircraft mature over the next five to ten years. Weiss said Ohio has applied to the FAA to host a national AAM center, and he said state planning documents and a white paper are under review by ODOT and could be released in the coming months.
Weiss and Weltco also noted RGP-sponsored events for veterans and for business outreach and encouraged commissioners to attend the RGP annual meeting. They said JobsOhio and RGP can be points of contact for local businesses seeking incentive or grant support.
