Commissioners discuss EMS partnership options, plan site visit to Parkview dispatch

Williams County commissioners discussed evolving plans to collaborate with Parkview Hospital on emergency medical services and agreed to schedule a site visit to Parkview’s dispatch to study their procedures.

Commissioners and staff said county EMS leaders (named in the meeting as Kyle and Jesse) are pursuing a possible arrangement with the city of “Bridal” (as described in the meeting record) to position a squad in that area as part of broader service adjustments. Commissioners emphasized they were gathering information, not signing any transfer of services, and that previous suggestions to sell county EMS to Parkview were explored and, at least on preliminary review, were not recommended because of concerns including pension (PERS) and long‑serving, locally dedicated staff.

To better understand dispatch and call-transfer procedures, commissioners directed staff to arrange a “roadshow” or workshop next week at Parkview so county staff and elected officials can see how Parkview’s dispatch handles cell‑phone 911 calls and transfers. Commissioners noted the county’s current dispatch and phone-routing process can feel “clunky” when calls must be transferred, and they want to observe Parkview’s workflow before deciding whether to change county operations or pursue closer collaboration.
