Nixa students display more than 800 artworks; multiple athletic and music teams and staff honored

Nixa Public Schools presented more than 800 student art pieces at the high school art show, which the district showcased with a slideshow before the March board meeting, the district said.
Administrators recognized several staff and student accomplishments. Marilyn Hannah, identified in the meeting as the High Point principal, was honored as the distinguished elementary principal for the Southwest Region of Missouri. The district recognized the high school and junior high dance teams for strong seasons, including first place at the Sugar Bears Invitational and top placements at national competitions. High school band and music students earned All‑American honors, performed in Rome nd at the Cheez‑It Citrus Bowl in Orlando and took top placements at several invitational competitions.
The board also noted growth of youth feeder programs, credited with strengthening junior high and high school athletic programs over recent years. The Nixa Teacher Association reported running a spring grant that provided math games, Play‑Doh and other items to the early childhood center for more than 400 students.
