The board honored staff and students for STEAM Night and district science fair achievements, recognized Viewbrew high school program and heard student representative reports on events including Project Manhood, college tours and upcoming senior Decision Day.
The board opened with Riverview Excellence recognitions and a STEAM Night recap. Several staff and students were honored for their contributions to the districtwide STEAM event and building-level science fairs.
Superintendent Tanya Patton and science curriculum coordinator Dr. Tasha Jordan presented awards to building liaisons and district science fair winners. Jordan named K–5 and secondary fair winners and acknowledged volunteers and community partners including the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis Zoo, Challenger Learning Center and others who supported the March 27 STEAM Night at Westview Middle School. Jordan said the event brought over 50 families and was provided “at no additional cost to the district.”
The board also recognized Riverview Gardens High School’s Viewbrew program (student-run coffee/ordering service) and said students served 95 cups of lemonade at STEAM Night. Student representatives Jewel Minner and Keyshawn delivered a student report covering recent events (Project Manhood on April 2), a college tour to Chicago State University, the start of end-of-course testing, upcoming senior Decision Day on May 1 and prom on April 19 at the Chase Park Plaza.
The recognitions and student reports were presented during the information portion of the agenda; the board did not take formal action.
