The Saratoga County Trails and Open Space Committee voted to authorize a logging agreement with 3B Timber Company for the second phase of the county’s 2024–25 timber harvest. Jason, county staff, told the committee the high bid was $103,000 and that harvest work must be finished by Dec. 31, 2025.
Supervisor Grasso and Supervisor Pack inspected the parcel with staff before the bid process, Jason said. The parcel was split into two harvest areas; 3B Timber previously won the first-phase bid and was the high bidder on the second portion as well. Jason asked that the resolution specify that if 3B Timber fails to fulfill the contract, the award should pass to the second bidder, GT and Sons LLC, at $63,207.07.
Committee members discussed operational issues and neighbor notification. Jason said neighbors had raised questions and that staff had sent letters and would notify neighbors of a start date once one is set. The committee approved the motion by voice vote and recorded “ayes have it.”
Ending: Staff will notify neighbors before the start of operations and move forward with contract paperwork; the committee did not record any operational objections at the meeting.
