Building permits rose in 2024; commissioners approve agenda and minutes

City staff reported that Lennox issued 194 building permits during 2024, including 136 residential remodel-type permits, 47 new-construction permits (single- and multi-family) and 11 commercial permits. Staff said the jurisdiction had not received 2025 permits yet at the time of the meeting but noted a twin-home project was expected to submit documentation imminently.
Staff also reported that, since Countryside opened in 2021, the recent twin-home submittals bring the total new housing units added in that period to 108. Code enforcement updates included two parking- and grass-related violations since the Dec. 19 meeting and an ongoing property issue on East Second Street where a building permit had expired and owner contractors had delayed completion.
Administrative actions at the start of the meeting included approval of the meeting agenda and a motion to approve the Dec. 19, 2024 minutes as amended. Both motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded on the minutes item.

Staff indicated they are closing out remaining 2024 permit filings, will continue tracking code-enforcement cases and will follow up on the East Second property to monitor remediation progress.
