Town staff told the Community Housing Committee on Feb. 10 that Habitat for Humanity plans a neighborhood meeting on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. to present elevations and plans for a proposed six-home development on Route 28 (site addresses to be assigned a Wood Road address in final plans).
Mary (staff member) said Habitat resolved a parcel split and legal issues and now plans to pursue six homes; the town engineer and water engineer advised Habitat to wait for sewering to avoid installing an expensive Title 5 wastewater system that could be temporary. As a result, the project’s permitting and construction schedule is expected to be delayed, potentially by at least a year.
Staff also noted an existing adjacent derelict building and an exclusive-use easement/encroachment issue that Habitat is resolving with abutters; Habitat invited neighbors and the new property contact to Wednesday’s meeting. Mary said the project will proceed with neighborhood outreach and that sewer routing up Wood Road is being coordinated.
No permit decision was made at the Feb. 10 committee meeting; the neighborhood meeting is an informational outreach step before formal permitting and engineering work.
