Drew, representing the Yarmouth Housing Authority, told the Community Housing Committee on Feb. 10 that the Authority will issue a request for proposals in March for the land it owns on Forest Road.
Drew said the Authority envisions using less than half of the 19-acre parcel for development in an initial phase and that wastewater planning determined an estimated bedroom count—about 90 bedrooms was mentioned as part of early calculations—used to derive unit totals. He said the Authority is considering clustering development to preserve open space and future capacity if sewering becomes available decades later.
Committee members recommended compact clustering to save trees and preserve long-term buildable capacity. Drew said he will circulate the RFP to the committee and invited committee members to review it when released.
No contract award or selection decision was made at the Feb. 10 meeting; the update reflected the Authority’s RFP timeline and early planning assumptions.
