The Yarmouth Select Board granted a special alcohol license Tuesday to the Cultural Center of Cape Cod for three days in mid-February, allowing an outside producer to serve small cocktails at an Edgar Allan Poe–themed theatrical event.
Molly Jamilinair, executive director of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, told the board the center is being rented by an external promoter for the event and that tip‑certified bartenders will serve four themed drinks during performances. There will be no food service, she said.
Board members discussed the proper permit window to allow for transportation and on-site storage of alcohol. Licensing staff and a board member noted prior practice to issue special-event licenses to cover the full window during which alcohol will be on the premises (not just the hours of the performances), so bottles can be delivered and removed without leaving the promoter temporarily unauthorized to possess alcohol on-site.
The board closed the hearing and voted to issue the license for Feb. 13 through 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 15, with conditions that the drinks be served only during the advertised performance times and that the temporary possession by the promoter be covered for transportation and storage periods. The vote passed unanimously.
